Ingredients

  • 6 oz mushrooms (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large green pepper (sliced)
  • 1 large red pepper (sliced)
  • ½ onion (sliced)
  • 1 lb thinly-sliced steak
  • ¼ C Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ C shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (fresh)
  • 8 hoagie buns (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a 12" cast-iron skillet to medium-high heat and spray with cooking spray. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5 minutes, until caramelized.
  2. Respray the skillet and sear the shaved steak, about 1-2 minutes. When steak is finished, add the sliced vegetables and mix well. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the sliced vegetables have softened.
  3. Coat the meat and vegetables in cornstarch and toss to combine. Pour the Worcestershire sauce over the skillet and mix thoroughly. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover with a lid. Cook for 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the vegetables are soft.
  4. Remove from heat and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the skillet. Broil on HIGH heat until cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Serve warm as prepared or inside hoagie buns.
