About Steve Clark

Steve is a dad to 3 kiddos and husband to Katelyn. His motivation for living a healthy lifestyle is his family’s poor health history. Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s, liver disease, and thyroid cancer have been common ailments for his grandparents and mother. Determined to take more control of his own health, he began running half and full marathons in 2018, which then moved to trail running and mountain biking when he moved to Park City, UT. He and his friend have a goal to run to the top of each peak in Utah.

Steve’s health journey began to include nutrition as well as physical exercise when his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 liver failure and needed a transplant in 2021. His research led him to learn how poor gut health is tied to so many ailments his family has. He’s since been dedicated to eating more plants, more fiber, and avoiding ingredients that cause harm to the gut.

Steve's story

To start off the conversation, we get to hear Steve's own story with his health and how small, intentional decisions transformed his physical health, his mental health, and his relationships with his family.

We also get to see the evolution of his career and how his health transformation aligned him with the Odyssey founders.

Odyssey's story

Unlike other protein bar companies, Odyssey was founded by a doctor who struggled to find a nourishing, gut friendly, and allergy friendly snack on the grocery store shelves.

After being hospitalized with severe gut issues and being diagnosed with gluten intolerance, Dr. Jen set out to create a protein bar that she could both eat and enjoy eating.

Years later, in 2018, Dr. Jen introduced her original recipe to the market and began the revolution of creating gut-friendly snacks that consumers could not only afford but also successfully share with their kids.

Flash forward to today, Odyssey's prebiotic protein bars stand out from other brands and pave the way for accessible better-for-you options that the whole family will love.

The Odyssey Triangle

Steve uncovers what "gut friendly" means and how Odyssey bars fulfill that mission and promise with every bite. Learn about the "Odyssey Triangle" and what sets apart Odyssey's protein bars from every other protein bar on the market.

The Odyssey Triangle includes:

  1. No fake ingredients
  2. Good for your gut
  3. Great taste

We also dive into specific ingredients found in Odyssey bars that encourage a healthy gut microbiome and the difference between prebiotics and probiotics.

Breaking into the market

I loved hearing how consumers initially responded to Odyssey's brand and products. It was a perfect example of how each person has different things that are important to them and while not everyone will be on board with your health decisions, there will always be people who understand what you want and cheer you on along the way.

Steve also gives practical advice of how to navigate the dozens of options you'll see on the shelves at the grocery store and how to understand which brand is best for you and your family's needs.

Lastly, Steve points out his secret to a well nourished life and how you can apply it to yourself.
